the work i do
WRITING
I love telling a true story. Limits give a creative writer like me the focus I need to anchor the story. I go behind the scenes to find a story worth telling, worth printing, worth reading. Death to fluff.
EDITING
Ah, to be the fresh pair of eyes on a draft, to have everything that the story expects to say all in one document—it’s like sitting down with a puzzle while it’s snowing outside. Except there’s a deadline.
FACT-CHECKING
The invisible work I’m most proud of. This is the brain-breaking job that’ll have you questioning if you’ve ever truly known anything for a fact—but it’s the nitty gritty work that makes or breaks a publication. And when you have a process, it’s empowering stuff.
RESEARCHING
As part of an editorial team, I support the Editor in Chief’s vision. I’m that girl who can do a deep dive on the internet and find a thing. I’m the resident in-meeting Googler. The QA check on both sentiment and reason.
magazine writing
My work’s been published in The Mountains, Cannabis Now, Saratoga Living, PDX Parent and more.
UX / copywriting
I’ve done some product development work and copywriting for web, mobile apps and ad copy.
journalism
I started in local journalism in Oakland, CA and as a Summer Fellow at Bay News Rising. I carry journalistic integrity with me always.
art
I’ve also published poetry and music and accepted random artistic challenges like digital illustration and even animation (I’m not good at that, but I’m a big believer in stretching creative muscle).
